Walking through Clio 2.0 Integration

Clio 2.0 Integration

Step-by-Step Instruction Article: Using the Clio 2.0 Integration

Step 1: Accessing the Guideline

  • Open the existing guideline in AltFee.

Step 2: Creating a New Matter

  • Create a new matter for a client (e.g., Bernie) who is already a client within both AltFee and Clio Manage.
  • Specify the type of work (e.g., corporate work).

Step 3: Scoping and Pricing

  • Scope the work and add projects to the matter (e.g., shareholder agreement).
  • Determine the applicable descriptions of services for invoicing.

Step 4: Connecting to Clio

  • Choose to connect the matter to Clio for billing.
  • Select the relevant matter in Clio (e.g., corporate work).

Step 5: Confirming the Connection

  • Review the list of projects, dollar amounts, and selected descriptions of services.
  • Connect the matter to Clio and receive confirmation.

Step 6: Viewing the Result in Clio

  • Switch to Clio and see the individual projects (e.g., incorporation, shareholder agreement) recorded as flat fee activities.
  • Check the descriptions that have been imported from AltFee.

Step 7: Invoicing and Billing

  • Access the invoice in Clio, where the descriptions and dollar amounts are reflected.
  • View the invoice with bullet points and project names generated from AltFee.

Step 8: Tracking Status

  • Monitor the Clio status of the matter, from unbillable to draft to invoice.
  • Note that locked projects in AltFee cannot be edited once they reach draft status in Clio.

Step 9: Consistency and Disconnecting

  • Maintain consistency between AltFee and Clio by locking projects in AltFee once they are in draft form in Clio.
  • Disconnecting from Clio allows further work on the matter in AltFee, with the option to reconnect and update in Clio.

Congratulations! You have successfully integrated your AltFee account with Clio.
